Our Second Family

After the zoo, Amy & I stopped by work to visit some of our friends that were working, so that they could see the girls. Here, Maureen is holding the dynamic duo (look hard to see Julie posing in the back!)

Maureen is like an older sister! She gives us advice on our problems and we listen to hers. I often think of my work friends like family because we spend so much time together and we have this amazing bond that nobody would ever understand. Maybe it is true what people say about 4K being "clicky". Sophia loved Mo! She kept reaching for her and cuddling with her!

Libby studying Julie's name tag. She looks so serious.
We wanted to see Amy R, who was busy training to be relief charge, but only got to visit for a few minutes! She was having a very busy day!

Shoe Show

Libby & I were folding clothes tonight while Gary watched the U of L game. As you can see, she certainly was a big help. She loves to get the clothes out of the basket, the drawers and the closet.
As I was putting away her clothes, she pulled her "shoe box" out of the closet and decided to play with all of her shoes.
The girl cannot even walk yet, and already has a thing for shoes. Oh boy, are we in trouble!

Little People, Big World

Thinking back to my childhood, I can remember playing with my brother, Philip. He and I were just 20 months apart, and often played well together. There is one thing that stands out in my mind that we always used to play with. It somehow seemed that G.I.Joes, Transformers, Star Wars and Heman were too boyish for me....just as Barbies, Rainbow Bright, Cabbage Patch Kids and My Little Ponies were too girly for him. The one unisex toy that we agreed on were "Little People" by Fisher Price. We called them "People with the holes in the bottom". We had a farm, a camper and a house complete with all sorts of people with the holes in the bottom and Sesame Street Characters (I am sure some of you from the late 70's are nodding your heads).

Gary also shares my love for these toys. He also reminisces back to his farm and garage. I have heard someone say that having a child is like reliving your childhood! Gary and I have been picking up "Little People" for Libby here and there. We picked up a few more at a Yard Sale on Saturday and now have a huge village of people...complete with a hospital, zoo, barn, amusement park and fire station. Here, Gary is setting up Libby's village.

I don't know who love these toys more...Gary, Libby or me!!

A Stroll by the Lake

Betsy took us out to dinner to the Lodge for a late anniversary present. After dinner, Gary helps Libby practice her walking down by the lake.
Libby and I pause for a quick photo-op.

I love this one of Libby with the lake in the background!

Life's a Beach

Gary, Libby, Betsy & I went down to the lake for the weekend. It was so nice and relaxing! Saturday, we went out on the boat for a few hours. Libby is still so unsure about her huge life jacket...mainly because when she gets tired, she cannot suck on her thumb, since she cannot reach her mouth! We stopped off at the beach and got out of the boat for a while. We tried another jacket on Libby and she loved it! Gary and I got in the water with her and she really loved it!! Gary threw her up in the air, spun her in circles and let her kick her little legs. She had an absolute blast!

All of the swimming make Libby work up an appetite, so we took a quick snack-break. She loves her new Cheese Puffs that Miss Amy got for her! Now, if this isn't a Gerber photo, nothing is!

Now, with a belly full and Geoffrey in her arms (her little Giraffe blanket), Libby thought she might catch a few winks on her daddy's shoulder. How sweet! We thought she was going to take a nap, so we put her jacket back on, loaded up from the beach and headed back to the cabin. No such luck! That child will simply not sleep with her jacket on!

Another one bites the dust!

Tonight we played a double header at Anderson Park. We did not win either game (are you surprised?) but we did play hard and have a lot of fun. We really did have a lot of good plays from time to time, several good hits, and a few dives for the ball....but we are just not as good as the other "young guys" that we play each week. Above, coaches Shawn & Gary decide the line-up. I would not have their job for anything...trying to decide who goes where, who bats when and trying not to hurt people's feelings doing so. You all are doing great!

Jacob was one muddy boy playing with his trucks! Did someone bring a hose?

I am not sure what Goob is doing in this "on deck" photo...but he sure looks cute!

Well, better luck next week....it's not if you win or lose, it's how you play the game (but it sure would be nice to win a game this season!!)
