Hoppy Easter!

Happy Easter to all! Here is Libby's Easter basket before she woke up and tore into it. She got lots of goodies...a night gown, a Dora electric toothbrush, sunglasses, her own BlackBerry, stuffed animals, Little People, bubbles, and lots of "snacks".
As luck would have it, my pager went off the second she started tearing into her basket. Fearing the worse, I called work back and watched her open her basket at the same time.
Libby went straight for the BlackBerry and started emailing all of her friends. I wonder where she gets that...not from her BlackBerry obsessed parents, I am sure!
She has a new love for Dora the Explorer. When asked what Dora says, she exclaims, "HOLA". **Side note: The electric tooth brush freaked her out tonight!**Daddy helped her open her Little People Easter egg. I cannot tell which one liked it best!

Look out J-Lo....

...there is a new Wedding Planner in town!!
Shena came over on Friday evening for another wedding planning session. We were trying to narrow down from the 6 caterers that Kye's lets us choose from. Needless to say, Libby had to be right in the center of all of the action. She even went and got her own laptop to help! We did get it down to two, and will let the Father of the Bride help select from there. Thanks for the dinner, Shena!

Shake, Rattle and Roll

Libby started back to gymnastics tonight after a 10 week hiatus for swimming lessons. I was nervous to see how she'd do since she has gotten so strong willed lately (I have no idea where she gets that from). We started the lessons in a circle doing a warm up exercise. Libby was instantly bored...she wanted to shake, rattle and roll, and didn't care much about sitting still and clapping her hands. Boring! Here, her Daddy tries to talk her into touching her toes. Check out that belly (I have no idea where she gets that from, either). Miss Kelly said that she cannot believe how "mature" she has gotten over the last 10 weeks. She is climbing on this latter like it was nothing. Her poor short, fat, legs would barley make it over to the next rung.

Gary & I gave her a B+ for the night. She still does not like to hang on the bars, but is much improved from last time. The running races were her favorite. A track star perhaps? Kayla, Ashlyn, Brooklyn, Carson and Allie are in another class that is going on at the same time. It was great for her to see some of her friends! Here, Mommy gives her a pep-talk before the next leg of her running race.

A Rainy day for a "Shower"

My co-worker and fellow nurse manager, Kristin is expecting her second baby in a few weeks. We threw her a surprise shower/pitch-in today at work. She was so surprised that she started to cry! What a great feeling to know that we put one over on her!
I made a diaper cake for the event. Gary said that he thinks it's my best one yet. I am thinking about starting a business!!

Dinner with the McGuires

Sunday evening Pat & Rikki came over for pizza so we could catch up and let the kids play. Their son, Brayden, is just a few months older than Libby and their daughter, Lillie, is just 5 months old. Libby was so funny around the baby. She wanted to be next to her, help her drink her bottle and burp her. She was amazingly gentle. Perhaps this is her way of telling Momma & Daddy that she'd be okay with a little brother or sister. This is how most of the night went...Libby wanting whatever toy that Brayden had. I thought this one was funny because it captured her "telling" Rikki that Brayden took her princess phone. Look around...Don't you think she can find something else to play with in her play room??

Libby was being a big helper helping Rikki burp Lillie. It is strange because I think that Libby looks so little, but then when I see her next to a real baby...she looks 12. It was great to catch up with them since we had not seen them forever.

Greenville Elementary Fair

To bring our busy day to a close, we went to the Greenville Elementary school's fair. This was an indoor event that consisted of many games and goodies. We bought some tickets and thought we'd let Libby try her luck at the Tic-Tac-Toe game. Gary held her and I stood at the other end (with camera in hand, of course) and told her to "throw Mommy the ball". I cannot believe it, but she actually won! We were so proud!

Trying her luck at the duck game (she won this, too!!)

Well, her luck had to run out sooner or later. We played this game that was very similar to The Price is Rights's "Plinko" game. As you recall, I was on The Price is Right in 2003 (don't belive me, see the next post!)~~so thought this game would be a piece of cake. Better luck next time.

Daddy & Libby try their luck at a put-put game. I don't know who the gal in purple is behind them, but she looks like she is trying really hard to get some to Gary's excellent golf pointers.

Uncle Chris tried to help Libby with her putting, too. Again, no luck. Maybe she'll have to schedule some lessons with her Uncle Goob or Aunt Shannon.

Angie Banet, Come on Down!

Alright, time for a little "Blast from the Past"! After mentioning in the last post about my "2-minutes-of-fame" that I experienced, I thought I'd take a moment to fill some of you in that have not heard the story (I know, groans from the crowd that have heard this story a million times). The story goes like this:
In April 2003, the IUS nursing class was asked to attend the Student Nurses' Association National Convention in Phoenix, Arizona. Once we arrived 7 of us crammed in 2 cars (skipping the first few days of the convention) and went on a road trip to LA to try to get to see a taping of "The Price is Right". We woke up very early to begin waiting in line. These people were crazy! Singing, dancing...doing all sorts of things to entertain themselves. After about 3 or 4 hours in line, we decided that aside from our "Indiana Nurses Love Bob" shirts, we were going to have to do something else to make ourselves stand out. We made up some stupid songs and even tried to sing it to the producer in our interview. Finally, after spending literally all day in line, the big moment came...we were allowed to enter the studio and take our seats on the 9th row. During the first segment, we watched in anticipation as contestants played to win appliances, scooters and cars. Between each segment, Bob Barker would walk out and talk to the audience. We introduced ourselves as the "nurses from Indiana".
As the show began to come to an end, the announcer, Rod Roddey announced the next contestant..."Angie Banet, Come on Down!". After missing the first item up for bid (that chic got to play Pinko!), I correctly guessed the price of a pool table, stating "$1300 Bob". I won an extra $500 for guessing the price exactly!
The pool table that I won is in Baltimore at my brother's house. At the time...we lived in a small house with no room for the thing, and then when we moved, our new house had one, so Philip got to keep it, with the understanding that when I want it back, I can have it.
Here I am after I kissed Bob. I had the $500 in my hand that he just gave me for guessing correctly!I got to play a game called "Cover Up" for the change to win a Dodge Intrepid. Looking to my friends in the audience didn't help. I still lost by 2 numbers...but was hopeful that my luck would change when I got to spin the big wheel.

On my first spin (man that thing was heavy!) I landed on $.85. The other lady in yellow also got $.85, so I was hoping for a good spin-off!

Thumbs up to my friends hoping for a good spin-off, however the chic that got to play Plinko got $1.

Bob was just as disappointed as I was, but I still got $374.00 (after taxes!) and a pool table out of the deal.
